Borrowing

Lapland University Library is open to all library users. Patrons will be issued Library cards upon presentation of adequate personal identification. Borrowers are responsible for all materials borrowed on their cards.

The Library lends material for home use. Lending periods differ for various types of items (see collections):
  • Textbooks (K, Kv) 2 weeks
  • Textbooks, short loans (Lk), 2 days
  • General collection (A) 4 weeks
  • EU collection (EU) 4 weeks
  • Periodicals (the latest number may not be borrowed) (La, La ref, Vs) 1 week
  • Materials in the Reading Room collections (L) are principally intended for use within the Library but may be borrowed on a short term basis except the official publications (Lv) and theses (Lop) which are for use in the Library only.

You may loan a book at the borrowing desk or the self-service loan station at the Main Library. Alternatively, you may renew your loans online via the JUOLUKKA database, where you can also check the availability of a publication and reserve books that are out on loan. Look also Using Library Catalogue.

If you need a book or an article which is not available at Lapland University Library, you can order it through the interlibrary loan service. The fees vary depending on where you order from.
